Description
Jewellery incorporating carved moon-stone moonfaces have always been popular, but few in number. In this bar brooch, made circa 1910, the moon-face has a fine chatoyancy, the term for the light-reflecting quality seen in moonstones and cats-eye gems generally. The moon-face is mounted within a crescent of rubies and pearls, on a twisted bar set with pearls, and with cabochon moonstone ends. Length 1 5/8th inches: 41 mm
